I worked with Mary at Montgomery Wards. Although I haven't seen her in years, we spent many happy times together there. We spent lunch hours and many after hours doing craft things, and enjoying her photography in many adventure trips. I remember her laugh, and then we would laugh more and continue to laugh. She was a bright light in a very crazy time in my life. I am glad that God placed her in my life and was a true friend to me. My sympathies to all of you. Leanne Pobursky

Veronica and family. I am so sorry to hear of Mary's passing. My mom and I really enjoyed our time spent at water aerobics with you, Mary and June. She was a kind woman. I also worked with her at Montgomery Ward's. She was loved by so many people.

The words “she was the kindest person I knew” came to mind when I heard of her passing. I found it interesting that so many who also knew Mary had the same thoughts of her. Perhaps this is how a legacy begins. Mary lived her life well, she blessed my life with her kind and gentle nature more times than I can count. Mary Alice’ example of the power of kindness truly is her legacy.
I have no doubt that Mary heard the words of our Lord; “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Sympathy and thoughts to the family of Mary Alice. We were cousins by blood but distant by miles. I do have childhood memories of Mary Alice and all of her siblings and parents. The Van Slambrouck reunions were never complete until her family arrived. Though both life and death cause separation, memories hold us close. Peace to those who mourn.

I remember when Mary Alice was learning to drive a car.
Her Dad, Jim VanSlambrouck, was sitting on the right side of the car, in the front seat, and Mary Alice got into the driver’s seat.
Both Cathy and I were in the back seat.
The story goes like this: Mary backed up the car onto E. Elm Ave and panicked when the car was on the street and she jumped out of the car, not knowing what to do. So, Dad had to get out of the car and quickly move the car off the road.
I was ready to jump out of the car too.
