Herman played a big part in the Voglers life. He was our mechanic for many years and took extra care of Sally when Fred passed away. I was blessed to meet Herm over 40 yrs ago and my children had him check out their cars through the years. He was a wonderful man and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Nancy I'm sorry we weren't able to attend the service but I have been out of state for a few weeks.

My dearest Nancy, Lynn, Bob, Pam, Scott and never farther than I thought away, “little Herman”,
Growing up I had the best childhood EVER living next to you guys and Herman was a big part of that time. 40+ years later, he still was! Always making his way over to the house when I would be there to visit mom/dad/Greg, just to say hi and see how I was doing. I have memories as far back as Greg in my First Communion with Herman coming over and filming us. Herman would come over on holidays and family events to do the same. He did that because he knew how important family was and that truly shows in how he loves all of his. Nancy, the love of Herman’s life, how beautiful it was to still see that twinkle in his eyes when looking at you after all those years ❤️. I’ll never forget a couple of days before Christmas everything getting put behind blankets or some kind of wall hangings, that had anything to do with car stuff and the Christmas decorations going up, and then the New Year’s Eve decorations going up, and then the climax, Herman’s birthday! There was music and card playing and lots and lots of laughter with family and friends, just what Herman enjoyed so much. I want to say a special thank you to all of you for sharing him with our family, especially the time he gave Greg. May God’s blessings be on all of you during this time. I pray for peace and hope in your hearts knowing you will see him again someday.
Love, Veronica “Annie Oakley” to Herman (Calkins) Wilkins

I've known Grandpa for pretty much as long as I have been alive. I considered him my Grandpa growing up. Kind, willing, funny, strong, and was a big kid. We would spend countless hours/days/weeks tuning up our trucks and derby cars, in his garage and he would be right out there with Steve and I, laughing and carrying on! He always made everyone feel "at home". We would be in the garage wrenching and he would walk in and flip on old school country music, and say "now that's real music there boys." We would look at each other and hand him a wrench and wouldn't miss a beat and all share a laugh. Heaven gained a very special person.
