Obituary of Steven Thomas Parks Jr.
Steven Thomas Parks, Jr. or “Tom” as he was affectionately known by his family, friends, and students was born on December 16, 1984 in Monroe, Michigan. He was one of two children from the union of the late Steven T. Parks and Constance Ann (Pribyl) Parks, Sr. Tom graduated from Monroe High School with the class of 2003. After high school Tom furthered his education at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan from 2003 until his graduation in 2007 with a Bachelor’s in Music. He continued his studies at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan receiving his Master’s of Arts and Education and Administration in 2016. He was currently working as the music instructor at Trillium Academy in Taylor, Michigan.
Tom was a member of the Monroe City Church in Monroe and a member of the Monroe Community College Orchestra. He was a member of the Will Session Band, a funk band based out of Detroit. Tom loved playing his trumpet, working out at the Go M.A.D. Fitness in Monroe, and just jumping in the car for endless car rides listening to music. Tom cherished the time he spent with his nieces and nephews.
Steven Thomas “Tom” Parks, Jr., age 37 of Monroe, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday; April 13, 2022 at his home. His passing was preceded by his father: Steven T. Parks, Sr. and by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
To cherish Tom’s memory he leaves his mother: Constance “Connie” Parks of Monroe, Michigan; three sisters: Jennifer Hill of Monroe; Terra Pribyl of Newport, Michigan; and Melissa Pribyl of Monroe; one brother: Frank (Jessica) Parks of Monroe; three nieces: Mikyah Pribyl, Kassidy Parks, and Abigail Parks; four nephews: Isiah Pribyl, Jacob Pribyl, Malachi Pribyl and Marcus Pribyl; and several aunts; uncles; and cousins.
Friends may gather on Tuesday; April 19, 2022 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service North Monroe, 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday; April 20, 2022 also at Merkles with Pastor Steven Quint of Monroe City Church, officiating. Procession will follow to Woodlawn Cemetery in Monroe.
