Obituary of Nancy Ann Stone
Nancy Ann Baldwin was born on September 1, 1944, in Oberlin, Ohio. She was one of four children born to the union of Harold “Duff” and Alice (Rodgers) Baldwin. She attended Ferndale High School in Ferndale, MI graduating with the class of 1962. After high school Nancy would earn her bachelor’s degree from Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa before obtaining her master’s degree in Early Education from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Nancy was a faithful member of the Carleton United Methodist Church in Carleton, Michigan.
On October 1, 1977, in Ferndale, Michigan Nancy married the love of her life, Mr. Robert Stone. Nancy was employed as an educator for over 30 years working in several different school districts before retiring in 2010 from St. John the Baptist Church in Monroe, Michigan. She loved teaching and was especially passionate about the youngest of minds in kindergarten and first grade.
Nancy was an active member of the Monroe Family YMCA where she enjoyed water walking with her friends. She was an avid reader, truly enjoying James Paterson novels. Being a friend of the Monroe County Library System, whenever the library received new Patterson titles, she received a phone call to be the first to check them out.
Nancy Ann Stone, age 77, of Carleton, Michigan passed away on Sunday; March 27, 2022, at the Medilodge of Monroe with her husband by her side. Her passing was preceded by her parents; Harold and Alice Baldwin.
To cherish her memory, she leaves her loving husband of forty-four years: Robert Stone of Carleton, Michigan; three sons: Todd Ahrens of California, Craig Ahrens of Flagstaff, Arizona and Ryan (Liz) Stone of South Korea; her sister: Cynthia Ashmore of Lakeland, Florida; two brothers: Roger (Laura) Baldwin of San Francisco, California and Wesley (Margie) Baldwin of Harsens Island, Michigan; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be planned for later this summer at her church in Carleton, Michigan. Her care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162. (734) 384-5185. Cremation will take place through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.
