I will miss this man! I remember one night very long ago he very possibly saved my life. I was a young 21 year old firefighter and we were dispatched to an accident on US23. The engine stopped and Tyke and I got out the passenger side and walked behind the engine to cross to the median where one of the vehicles was. Me being inexperienced was focused on the accident and started crossing the expressway. Tyke grabbed my shoulder and said “Whoa big boy, where ya goin?” Just as a car sped right in front of us. Tyke just laughed and told me to be sure to watch for traffic. I will never forget that night.
I will miss stopping to visit him while he was sitting in front of his garage. My condolences to the Rod family.
