POMANN FAMILY TRIBUTE TO OUR BELOVED UNCLE
Jackie, Janet and I want to thank uncle John (and Aunt Millie as well) for all that he has done for our family. He had always been an important source of kindness and inspiration to all of us.
Our healthy teeth are themselves an outstanding attribute to his professional skill as a dentist. He not only treated family members but our spouses as well.
A major thing we didn't know at the time, was that Uncle John was the a large part of reason we were able to move from Ogden to Freda in Northwest Detroit where we grew up in a happy, friendly neighborhood. He provided some funding for our parents, so this could be accomplished .
As children, it was always a treat to drive to Monroe for a party at the Kuras house. The hospitality offered there included fun and games, baseball and card playing immediately come to mind. Best of all there was always a smorgasbord fit for a king!
He was an inspiration for Jackie to go into dental hygiene, but he was extremely proud of her when she got her law degree. He further filled in for our deceased father by walking Jackie down the aisle when she married Stan. He was always there while he lived in Michigan, even attending the 50th anniversary of Stan's admission to the bar .
He was always very generous to us when we would drop into visit him in Florida. His accomplishments there were awe inspiring, collecting money for the building of Saint Sebastian, providing gentle treatment for the indigent and running the thrift store for the church . No matter how many people we dropped in with, he always provided hospitality, and always treated us to really nice restaurant meals in the area.
Most recently when he came back to Michigan and stayed at the nursing home, we spent many hours playing $1.35 with him, his favorite game. Prior to covid, Jackie, Janet and I would attempt to extract money from him, but he was too much for us overall. His hospitality shone there at the nursing home too, where he shared his bingo winning treats with us!
After covid we could hardly spend any time at all with him, only two at a time, and never able to even finish a game. We believe covid and the way it was handled took its toll on Uncle John.
We”ll always love and miss him!
Jackie, John and Janet

To our Kuras cousins and families,
Words can not express the sadness we felt when we heard of the passing of Uncle John. We hope that the wonderful memories you have of your dad will support you during this difficult time. One great memory we have is playing cards with your dad. We loved the look on his face when we got lucky and won and took his money! We will cherish the time we spent taking him out to eat and listening to his funny stories and jokes. He will truly be missed by all his loved ones!
Our heartfelt sympathy and love, Tim and Millie

My condolences to Dr. Kuras Family.
He was my first dentist and his office was in the second floor of the Kresge building. Over the years, moving, and changing dentists, I have forgot most of them. However, I always remembered his name and office. He took good care of me and my teeth in my young years. I am sure he will be missed.
