I worked as an electrician at Fermi 2, while Tom was a mechanic. He always seemed very quiet and soft-spoken. He was one of the more likable guys that worked in maintenance. I never heard him speak a cross word or negative comment about anyone. He was, without a doubt, a real asset to the Fermi team. My condolences to his family; I’m sure he will be missed.

I worked with Tom at the Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant in Kansas. He was there supporting our outage through the USA Star program. That outage was my first as a millwright helper and it was the best one that I could ever remember and it was because of him. I had no background as a millwright. I was assigned that position and just winged it basically! Tom made it work for me though. He walked me through procedures and the actual work. He seen the potential in me as a future mechanic and made me see that potential in myself as well. Because of him and his patience with me, I went on to become the only female Motor Operated Valve Technician for the company I worked for. I’m going to miss him dearly.

Tom was a friend and shipmate of mine. Submarine shipmates form a lifelong bond and I am a better man because I knew Tom. He was strong and dependable. These are two qualities that are highly desirable as an Archerfish shipmate, but he was kind and compassionate as well. These are qualities highly desirable in a friend! He will be sorely missed.
