Obituary of Robert Kevin Coady
Robert Kevin Coady was born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 10, 1936 to Timothy Leo and Helen (Winter) Coady. At the age of six, he was brought into the Winter family of Detroit, Michigan where he was raised with five brothers. After graduating from Salesian Catholic High School in Detroit, Bob proudly served his country Stateside at the Navy Recruiting Station in Poughkeepsie, New York during the Vietnam War. He later continued his education at New York University, earning an Associate’s Degree. A devout Catholic, Bob also attended Seminary School.
Bob was the owner and operator of V Fix-it Auto Repair shops in Dearborn Heights and Westland, Michigan for more than thirty years. Cars were a favorite topic of conversation for Bob. He enjoyed nothing more than tinkering on an old vehicle and many purchases were made just for the challenge of getting an old clunker up and running. A librarian at the Naval Base during his time in the service, Bob loved to read history books and had a familiarity with a wide range of subjects. A very outgoing and social person, he called upon his deep breadth of knowledge to strike up a conversation with just about anyone.
