Herewith I would like to express my condoleances to Vera and the full family. I have been a 'distant' colleague of Jeff at Philips Display Components, for many years in multiple roles in several continents, where Jeff was the stable factor (mostly) in Ann Arbor. Jeff was a visionary person about the industry and about the strategic positioning of our company in that industry. And more importantly, a very pleasant person to work with and to have inspiring conversations.

To Kirk & Chad --I was saddened to read your Dad's obituary in today's Daily Messenger. He had an amazing background and so many interests you should be very proud of his life and all that he gave to you. We had some good times with him and your Mom, sailing, playing cards, and just being together. What a surprise to see Bert's name with regard to the building of the playground at the Elementary School. That was quite a project. Bert passed away Christmas Day 2016. I hope you are both doing well during thtis difficult time. My best to you and your families.

Thank you Janet. When going through boxes of photos, I found a Daily Messenger newspaper clipping with a photo of the playground project with Bert and my Dad. I had completely forgotten about that, so it brought back memories. Thought it would make a nice addition to help round out the obituary. I can make make a copy and send it to you if you would like. Very sorry to hear about his passing.

I am sorry for your loss, Vera. I remember Jeff very well. I got to know him not just in Ann Arbor, but when we both spent time in Eindhoven, living in the batchelor's building - "De Hertoghof". It was always easy to talk with Jeff and we spent many days doing that over dinner. One of my fondest memories of my time in Europe was the day Jeff and I just decided to jump in the car and drive to Luxembourg. Why not?!? Never had a better travelling companion.

Dear Vera,
I am so sorry to hear about Jeff. He was our good friend and neighbor for many years. I loved his homemade wine and listening to him play my piano. I know you will miss him very much.
I’ll be thinking of you,
Linda Lewis
