My wife and I met Roger at the Free Methodist Church in Milan, Michigan in 1999. I noticed Roger right away , with him wearing a Marine Corps shirt. Since I was a former Marine and Vietnam Veteran, I wanted to know if he served over there and when.
Although we didn't serve at the same location, me, near Khe Sanh in 1968, we both served in country.
I didn't see Roger for some time, then my wife and I saw his deceased wife Jan, at the Dundee Dialysis Center, where my wife was going. They came for about 5 years, with us laughing and joking, while waiting for our wives to come out of dialysis treatments.
After Jan died, we didn't see too much of Roger. He told us of his latter marriage and how happy he was. We were glad for him!
To his wife, children and family members, Roger was a good man and like most former Marines, rough around the edges!!
