Allen Teater

Obituary of Allen Lawrence Teater

Please share a memory of Allen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Allen Lawrence Teater was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 3, 1951. He completed high school in Ohio, and following graduation, proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  After his honorable discharge, Al found a rewarding career in the field of information technology (IT).

One of Al's favorite pastimes was playing poker with his cherished family and friends. He found joy and camaraderie in these games, creating lasting memories and an endless supply of stories to share.

An avid fisherman, Al found great solace and tranquility by casting his line in various lakes, from Tuckaway Lake Campground in northeast Ohio to the many inland lakes he found in Michigan. Nature was his sanctuary, and he reveled in the peaceful moments spent waiting for the next big catch.

Al was an enthusiastic bowler in his younger years. He was in many leagues, showcasing his competitive spirit and love for the game. But more than his bowling skills, Al was renowned for his ability to give everyone a hard time.  He lived a life filled with laughter, always seeking to have a good time.  He had a mischievous spirit and a quick wit that could light up any room. No one was exempt from his playful teasing, yet when someone needed him, he was there without hesitation.

In search of excitement and a touch of thrill, Allen loved to spend time at various casinos, from MGM to Hollywood to Soaring Eagle. The flashing lights and the suspense of the games offered him a temporary escape from the ordinary. But even among the allure of the casino, Al always enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his best friend, Cathy, by his side.

Above all, Al adored children and found immense joy in their company. His passion for their wellbeing led him to become a bus driver for the Monroe Public School System. He embraced this role wholeheartedly, cherishing every moment he spent with the children he transported. Sadly, the arrival of the Covid pandemic signaled a turning point in Allen's health, cutting short his time in the role he loved.
