Dear Cathy and family,
We go way back to the day we both met Al. Such good times then. So much fun! I’ll remember him fondly.
One memory that sticks out is when I drove to Michigan with my boys and you and Al took us out on your boat to water ski. Even though I could not get up on the skis, he was so very patient with me and kept giving me another chance to try. We had a good laugh afterwards.
Even though I could not attend his wake or funeral, please know that I was there in spirit with you all. ❤️

I am Sandra Segedi, Allen’s first wife. I am sending condolences from Al’s first family, our daughter Jacquilyn, his two grandsons Andrew and Brandon, and our granddaughter Mallorie. Although we spoke we haven’t seen Allen in many years. I can tell you that knowing him since third grade, being high school sweethearts, him enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1969, getting married in 1971, living on Guam, vacationing in Japan, living in Maryland where our daughter Jacquilyn was born, and moving back to Ohio…there was never a dull moment! Even though he had no other children I am sure his second family will miss him! Allen had a difficult time transitioning from military life back into civilian life when he was discharged from the Navy. His mother, Effie (née Maurice), his aunt Cleo, and I researched his ancestry to locate his father, Lester, thinking it may aid in his well being. Allen finally had the opportunity to meet his father in 1981. I only ask for a copy of his death certificate for our family Bible so that we may finalize Allen’s branch of our family tree. Again, condolences from Allen’s first family.
