My husband Andrew Ealovega frequently told me, family, and friends wonderful childhood memories from the days when his family owned a farm near the Leppek and Bogoski homes. The stories were of a closeknit neighborhood with hayrides, corn roasts, horseshoes, farmwork, and fun. Later, when his family no longer owned their farm, the farm neighbors became lifelong friends. On a summer evening, we would frequently take a ride to “the farm”. If Pat or James was outside, we would just pull in the yard. We were always greeted enthusiastically and invited to join in whatever was going on. We usually would check out the gardens (both vegetable and flower), learn about the latest projects, and spend the rest of the evening on the front porch where Pat made sure we all had refreshing drinks and desserts. We watched the hummingbirds come right up to the porch feeders while talking about such things as how many jars of some vegetable had been canned already that season, or maybe the condition of the roads and ditches, or perhaps having to haul in water – all of which made my husband feel right at home. And I soon learned what a devoted couple Pat and James were. It was very evident how proud they were of each other and their family. Pat was a beautiful person, giving, cheerful, and full of energy. It was a joy to be with her. My sympathy to you James, and to the family.
Love,
Barbara Ealovega
