Debbie Thorley posted a condolence

Since my youth, I have known my Uncle Danny to be a very kind, generous, reliable, determined and loving man. He was a great example of a loving and supportive husband, father and uncle. Also, he was a great example of being a hard worker that provided for his family. He cared deeply for his family. We could see that in his determination to care for his Mom, my Mammaw, until she passed. I could see it when he and his family invited me to live with them so I could attend the University of Toledo. I felt like he treated me like his own. Like the father I wasn't able to have since my dad, his brother, had passed when I was 2. While living in MI, I saw how he was there for his kids and for all of their after school activities. Encouraging Barry in running and to get his Eagle Scout honors. Encouraging Deanna in her many successful achievements in sports and academics. Either before or after those school activities you would find him mowing the lawn and tinkering in his tool shed. He was like a Mr Fix It. Whatever we needed, we knew we could count on him. Eventually he even joined Glenna in making quilts. He liked to be busy. Giving wholeheartedly and with pep. And yes, I have a couple of those beautiful quilts. He told us often that he loved us. Especially every time we talked on the phone. He would be funny, making us laugh by the things he said. Always a good visit. So thank you Uncle Danny for being you and loving us all and Jesus too! Thank you for being such a wonderful example of a very good, hard working, determined and loving man, husband, father, grandfather and an uncle to me. You will be missed.
With much love and gratitude,
Debbie
