Obituary of Danny Wayne Brown
Danny Wayne Brown was born on December 5, 1956 in Monroe, Michigan. He was the eldest of four children born to Edward and Claire (Jacks) Brown. Danny graduated from Jefferson High School in Monroe with the Class of 1975. An excellent athlete, Dan, lettered in both baseball and football. He was a member of “The Organization”, as they called themselves, a group of “cool” guys he hung out with in high school. Danny continued his education at Bay de Noc Community College in Escanaba, Michigan where he obtained his practical nursing license.
Danny’s career in healthcare brought him back to Southeast Michigan as he was employed by the Ypsilanti State Hospital, Milan Federal Correctional Institute, Huron Valley Correctional Facility, and the former Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe. He retired in 2018.
A movie buff, Danny watched everything from mainstream flicks to the most obscure films. He enjoyed classic rock music and attended many performances over the years. Danny was recently present for an unforgettable “Genesis” concert alongside his sister, Merri. An avid football fan, he was also fortunate to see his favorite team, the University of Michigan, play at “The Big House” in Ann Arbor on many occasions. Danny was a quintessential Michigander. He often traveled “Up North” to the Upper Peninsula for camping, fishing, and playing Euchre with his extended family. He enjoyed kayaking as well, although watching Danny actually get in the kayak could be quite comical to onlookers! Danny loved a good, hearty meal and had a taste for Michigan staples such as pasties and Sanders Chocolate.
Danny kept himself informed on current events and enjoyed listening to personal interest stories on National Public Radio and podcasts. He also tuned into sports radio to hear the latest stats. He challenged his mind putting his knowledge to the test by working crossword puzzles. Danny cherished the time he spent with family and especially loved the Christmas season. He traveled to Florida to visit his sister, Suzanne, and always ended up spending time relaxing in her hot tub. A dog lover, he had several beloved Golden Retrievers over the years. Danny had a quick wit and a dry sense of humor. His personality could seem quirky to some as he opened up to others on his own terms. However, once you were welcomed into his circle, Danny was extremely friendly and a great conversationalist. He had a huge heart and would never hesitate to lend a helping hand.
