Rodney Kelly Kulhanek was born on April 20, 1968 in Detroit, Michigan. He was one of four boys born to the union of Ronald and Sonya (Thurmond) Kulhanek.  Rodney attended St. Hedwig School in Detroit, graduating in 1986.

Rodney supported himself with several different jobs throughout his working career.  Most recently he had been employed as a truck driver for Library Network.

Rodney considered himself blessed by his relationship with girlfriend: Tina.  They enjoyed taking long walks at different National Forests and the Lower Huron Metroparks.  One of his favorite activities was strolling through Hocking Hills State Park in Logan, Ohio. Rodney loved bird watching and was particularly fascinated by the American Bald Eagle. He enjoyed collecting Hot Wheel cars, watching movies with “The Warriors” being his favorite movie and “The Walking Dead” being his favorite television series. He enjoyed good food and was quite pleased when he was able to devour a big slice of crowd pleasing chocolate cake, baked with love by Tina. Rodney had a passion for helping others and was loved by all that had the pleasure to know him.  More than anything he cherished the time he shared with his daughter: Nichole and grandson: Jack.  These two truly meant the world to him.
