Obituary of Elizabeth Cappie Jacobsen

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Elizabeth Cappie Jacobsen was born in Monroe, Michigan on July 16, 2008.   She was the daughter of Edward Owen Jacobsen and Marthajean (Spaulding) Hunter.   She was educated in the Monroe Public Schools System attending Custer and Raisinville Elementary Schools and the Monroe Middle School.   After completing the eighth grade this past June, she was so excited, as the beginning of a new school year loomed, about attending high school this Fall to meet new friends and having some awesome teachers.

Often referred to as a “Ray of Sunshine”, Elizabeth lovingly known as Little Red and Ginger was a joy to be around, a positive spirit and well-known in her local neighborhood.   She was outgoing, a busy body, very active and loved to be outside.   She enjoyed camping, kayaking, hiking, and being near the water.  Her varied interests extended to her musical taste as well with heavy metal, rock and roll, and oldies being counted as favorites.  She enjoyed spending time with her siblings playing play station; Mind-craft, GTA5, and Call of Duty amongst others.

Elizabeth seemed to love animals and people equally and implicitly.   By nature, she had a beautiful smile and was happy go-lucky, always being on the move.   She was very determined and the first to offer a helping hand.   Elizabeth had noble aspirations of a life of service to others, wanting to become a police officer, go to K-9 school, and then work with horses as part of the mounted division.  Career was very important to her she would do it all she had no fear.

Elizabeth Cappie Jacobsen, age 14, of Monroe passed away tragically on Monday; August 29, 2022, at her home from an electrical accident.   In death, Elizabeth continued to share love with others by being an organ and tissue donor through Gift of Life Michigan.   Her passing was preceded by her paternal grandmothers:  Pamela Sue Jacobsen and Patricia Fletcher; and a younger stillborn brother:  Sam Hunter.

To cherish her memory she leaves her parents:  Edward (April) Owen Jacobsen and Marthajean (Spaulding) Hunter; paternal grandfather:  Tim Jacobsen; maternal grandparents:  Nanette K. and Don Spaulding,  LisaJune McGlone-Kull and Gerald Kull; a brother:  Damon Jacobsen of Monroe; two half-siblings:  Mackenzie and Hunter Jacobsen; four step-sisters:  Hannah Fletcher, Elizabeth Chalupka, Airianna Redley, and Gracelyn; one step-brother:  Seth Fletcher; numerous cousins including:  Tiffany Keck, Kaylee Pepper, and Elliott Jacobsen Jr.; and a niece on the way:  Patricia Rose Fletcher.
