Obituary of Susan Darlene Hahey
Susan Darlene Ceney was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 2, 1958. She was the daughter of Franklin and Margret (Exler) Ceney. Susan graduated from Bethel Park High School in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. She later obtained her Cosmetology License in Pittsburgh.
Susan wed Richard Melvin Hahey II on April 5, 1983. The couple were blessed with three children: Sara, Adrian, and Katey and later welcomed a third daughter, Harper, into their family. For many years, Susan was employed as a sales representative at J.C. Penny retiring in 2006.
Susan and Richard moved to Michigan from Navasota, Texas in the summer of 2021. She was excited to escape the heat and experience the crisp autumn and snowy winters again. She loved to travel and valued time spent at the beach, never letting a hurricane keep her from vacationing. She had a green thumb and was wise to purchase out of season plants at a discount. She then promptly nursed them back to health and transplanted them into her garden.
Susan was always put together and never left home without her jewelry on. She loved spending time at shopping malls and whenever she visited a new place the first thing she did was find her way to the mall. Susan enjoyed experimenting with different hair styles and colors, especially her favorite hue: pink. She liked to ask friends and family to volunteer to try a new color using her excess dyes. Although her style could garner attention, Susan was modest at heart and kept mostly to herself. She was the best grandmother, always putting the grandchildren first.
Susan Darlene Hahey, age 63, of Newport, Michigan, passed away peacefully at Beaumont Trenton Hospital on Thursday; August 18, 2022. Her passing was preceded by her parents and her beloved husband: Richard Hahey in 2021.
To cherish her memory, she leaves four children: Sara (Matt) Smalls, Adrian (Ashley) Hahey, Katey Hahey, and Harper Hahey; eight grandchildren: Braden, Eaven, Nathan Jayda, Marcus, Mackenzie, Aria, and A.J.; a brother: Frank Ceney; and a sister: Charlotte Ceney.
Susan’s care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. Cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.
