Obituary of Phyllis A. Wagner
Phyllis Andrea Boberg was born on December 13, 1939, in Monroe, Michigan. She was one of twelve children born from the union of George and Vivian Ruth (VanEeckhoutte) Boberg Jr. On September 10, 1960, at the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, Phyllis married the love of her life, Harold “Lynn” Wagner. As a homemaker, Phyllis was a loving wife and a doting mother caring for the needs of her loved ones.
Phyllis was a baptized member of MMBC. Each Sunday the family gathered at the home for a wonderful meal prepared by Phyllis herself. These “Events” often brought more than a dozen hungry family members to the table to share food and fellowship. Phyllis loved to bake, and no feast was complete without one of her famous desserts. Her number one crowd favorite was her famous Apple pie.
Phyllis was known for her kindness and generosity. As a talented seamstress, she painstakingly created beautiful quilts to gift to those she dearly admired. If you knew her, you were most likely one of the lucky recipients of these handmade treasures. She also was very consistent with sending birthday cards to everyone she knew. In fact, when it came to birthdays, Phyllis, celebrated that special someone by allowing them to pick the menu of dinner and dessert which she then prepared.
As a young woman, Phyllis stayed active bowling in several leagues both at Nortel Lanes and the Monroe Sports Center. She was a pretty good bowler, carrying a one hundred eighty average. Each year, Phyllis would plant a flower garden containing a variety of plants. She was blessed with a green thumb, and not favoring one flower over another, chose to just plant what looked nice.
Above anything, Phyllis loved and adored her family. She seemed to always place the needs of others ahead of her own. She had a long list of things she would participate in, a resume’ of sorts: from hunter to painter, singer to seamstress, baker and chef.
