Obituary of Shirley Sue Beck
Shirley Sue Beck was born on April 23, 1949 in Tennessee. She was one of four children born to the union of Claude and Treecy (Smith) Collins. Shirley attended Monroe High School graduating with the class of 1967. Shortly after high school, Shirley enlisted in the Women’s Army Corp, a branch of the United States Army. Shirley had many varied interests in life. She loved shopping from mail-order catalogs, watching Gunsmoke, MASH, The Incredible Dr. Pol, and especially the Hallmark channel. She was a gifted artist and writer, publishing several short stories and poems. Over the years she had composed a variety of Christmas and Gospel songs enjoying the opportunity to sing her own melodies. Shirley loved to cook and was known for her homemade meatballs, potato and macaroni salads, and her decadent banana pudding. Delicious as they were, they barely held a candle to her turkey and her out of this world dressing.
Above all else, Shirley valued her faith and praising her Lord. She had a remarkable outlook on life, knowing that she herself was forgiven, she extended that same courtesy to others around her regardless of the situation.
