Obituary of Emily Yvonne Rogers
Emily Yvonne Price was born on September 15, 1935 in Monroe, Michigan. She was one of four children born to the union of Carl and Wenonah (Coffey) Price. Emily was a graduate of Monroe High School. As a young woman, she was employed at Woolworth’s Department Store. On December 29, 1956 Emily was joined in marriage to John Henry Rogers, and the couple was blessed with five children. A faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church for many years, Emily dedicated her life to tending to her family and she was the consummate caregiver to her grandchildren.
Emily enjoyed being in the outdoors whether camping in Tennessee and Northern Michigan or fishing with her brother on Lake Erie. She loved to cultivate beautiful flowers in her yard including special varieties that attracted butterflies. Emily also drew many types of birds to her home where she loved to watch them eat from her feeders.
An avid fan of country music, Emily had felt fortunate to travel with her friend, Marlene to visit the Grand Ole Opry itself. Emily was a creature of routine always keeping up on her regularly scheduled television games shows. She was also a Bingo regular; she had the uncanny ability to simultaneously watch upwards of twenty cards at one time. Emily was a longtime member of her Bunco club and the trusted scorekeeper for games of Yahtzee and Ten Thousand with her family.
A wonderful cook, her family looked forward to her specialty dishes of chop suey, boiled dinner, and barbeque beef. Her kind and loving nature won her many friends and most importantly the admiration of her family.
