Obituary of Betty Marie Dow
Betty Marie Bomyea was born in Carleton, Michigan on October 2, 1934. She was one of five children born from the union of Clarence and Annabelle (Beach) Bomyea. For many years to help provide for her children, Betty was employed as a production worker and machine operator at Horizon Manufacturing.
Betty had many furry, four-legged companions throughout her life, but she seemed to favor the chihuahua kind the most. She enjoyed perusing the pages of People magazine to keep up with the world around her. To keep her mind sharp she challenged herself often to word puzzles and flipping the pages of a good book. She kept her fingers nimble by creating wonderful needlepoint embroidery, crocheting slippers and Afghan blankets.
Although, Betty was a self-proclaimed introvert, she lived a very full life. As a young woman, she enjoyed tossing the ball down the lanes at Ford Lanes in Taylor. Her love of bowling began as just an activity but eventually broadened into joining a league. From making her home in California and Arizona in addition to Michigan she also enjoyed traveling. Her vacations allowed her to visit the beautiful islands of Hawaii, Elvis Presley’s mansion, Graceland, and even the Grand Ole Opry in Tennessee, to name a few.
Betty Marie Dow, age 87, of Taylor passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday; July 9, 2022. Her passing was preceded by her parents; a son: Terry Dow and a brother: Richard Bomyea.
To cherish her memory, Betty leaves two daughters: Loretta (Timothy) Putek and Pamela (Rob) Pike; three siblings: Clarence (Marty) Bomyea, Beverly Small, and Nancy (Karl) Kuriwchak; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
