Dawn Frank

Obituary of Dawn Marie Frank

Dawn Marie Tomkinson was born on October 20, 1970, in Trenton, Michigan. She was one of three children from the union of James Paul and Pamela (Brancheau) Vaughn. Dawn was a 1988 graduate of Airport High School in Carleton, Michigan.   Although, at a young age she was quite the rebel, Dawn, developed a reputation as a hard worker and a “get it done” type of person.  For more than twenty years she was a valuable member of the legal team, employed as a paralegal secretary, for the law firm of Godfrey, Wetzel, and Horkey, PLC.

On May 23, 1992, Dawn, married the love of her life, Shane Frank, in a simple ceremony in her aunt’s backyard.   The couple was blessed with two beautiful and athletic daughters:  Shayna and Haley.  Dawn’s true passion and joy in life was that of supporting Shayna and Haley.  Whether college visit trips or road trips with Shane traveling hundreds of miles to watch the two girls play travel or college softball these excursions made Dawn the happiest.

She enjoyed playing mud volleyball, slow pitch co-ed softball, watching softball, doing activities with her children and shopping with Haley, playing whiffle ball and Kan jam. Dawn was a member of the Monroe High School Softball Hall of Fame and of the Greyhound rescue group, “Greyhound Expressions”.  She was known to be a true animal lover and for her passion for her own four canine companions:  CeCe, Karma, Buddy and Jazzy.

Dawn loved Halloween and going to haunted houses. She enjoyed the fall season and camping at the Totem Pole Park in Petersburg, Michigan.  Much to Dawn’s chagrin, the family was extremely competitive in all of their outdoor activities.

Dawn Marie Frank, age 51, of Flat Rock, Michigan passed away on Tuesday; June 28, 2022 at Beaumont Hospital in Trenton, Michigan. Her passing was preceded by her parents:  James Vaughn and Pamela Brancheau.

To cherish her memory Dawn leaves her husband of thirty years:  Shane Frank of Flat Rock; two daughters:  Shayna and Haley Frank, also of Flat Rock; one sister:  Angie Tomkinson (Kevin Redfern) of Titusville, Florida; and one brother:  Tony (Amber) Tomkinson of Flat Rock.
