Obituary of Patricia Jeanne Katzner
Patricia Jeanne Elinski was born on July 10, 1937, in Jackson, Michigan. She was one of two children born to the union of Frank and Mary Laura (Broniszewski) Elinski. Pat received her high school diploma from Stockbridge High School in Stockbridge, Michigan graduating with the class of 1955. Although Pat was born in Jackson, Michigan she made her home in several communities living in Anoka, Minnesota before settling down in Park Rapids where she met her future husband, Albin Katzner.
On August 8, 1998, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Park Rapids, Minnesota, Pat and Albin were joined in holy matrimony. For many years, Pat, was the proud owner and operator of the Diamond Hill Kennels in Park Rapids. Being a true animal lover, she was extremely passionate about her work, and also served in various capacities at the Headwaters Animal Shelter.
Pat loved to garden and grew bountiful flowers and vegetables like green beans and tomatoes. She and Al enjoyed spending time together visiting the casino to gamble or fishing for blue gills and walleye at Island Lake in Park Rapids. Pat was also a gifted poet, painter, and artist. She cherished the love and relationship she shared with her furry companions; her beloved cat: Holly; two golden retriever mixes: Buddy 1 and Buddy 2; and her Belgium Malinois dog: Farrah.
Patricia Jeanne Katzner, age 84, passed away on Thursday; June 23, 2022, at her Erie home. Her passing was preceded by her husband of sixteen years: Albin L. Katzner; and her parents: Frank and Mary Laura Elinski.
To cherish her memory, she leaves a sister: Kathleen M. Dorer of Battle Creek, Michigan; a brother: Richard “Dick” (Lorissa) Elinski of Erie; two nieces: Lynn (Gordon) Smith of Monroe and Rae (Randy) Hempel of Erie; two nephews: Rick (Kelley) Elinski of LaSalle, Michigan and Chris (Dana) Elinski of Andover, Kansas; numerous great nieces and nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather from 3:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday; June 30, 2022, at Merkle Funeral Service, Erie; 9156 Summit Street, Erie, Michigan 48133 (734) 317-7199 where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm. She will lie in state on Friday; July 1, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2214 Manhattan Street, Erie, Michigan from 10:00am until the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00am. Father Mark Prill will officiate. Private burial will take place at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Jackson, Michigan.
