Obituary of Mary Lee Remaklus
Mary Lee Vance was born at Mercy Hospital in Monroe, Michigan on June 6, 1942. She was the eldest of two daughters, born from the union of James Edward Vance and Naomi Marian (Cauchie) Vance. With her father being an auctioneer for the Monroe County Fair and Dundee Livestock, she had a lasting love for animals, especially since he occasionally brought home a horse or pony. Mary Lee attended Dundee Community Schools graduating with the Class of 1960.
On September 15, 1961 she married the love of her life Roger Paul Remaklus. The couple was blessed with two children. Mary Lee was a homemaker and lovingly cared for the needs of her husband and children. In addition to her own home for many years Mary Lee cared for her parents and younger sister whom she was 14 years older than. Her mother was first diagnosed with cancer in the early 1960’s and would eventually pass away in 1975. Her father also suffered from declining health before his passing in 1970.
Mary Lee was a constantly busy person and she loved to network with the neighbors. She enjoyed volunteering and was very active at Mercy Memorial Hospital. She was outgoing and outspoken making friends wherever she went. Mary Lee participated in bowling leagues throughout the area as this gave her an opportunity for a night out with friends. She had many lifelong friends, getting together with her classmates once a month for lunch well into her seventies.
Mary Lee Remaklus, age 79, of Dundee passed away peacefully at the Hospice of Lenawee in-patient facility on Thursday; April 21, 2022. Her passing was preceded by her parents.
To cherish her memory she leaves her loving husband of sixty years: Roger Paul Remaklus; a son: David (Lisa) Remaklus of Whitehouse, Ohio; a daughter: LeeAnn (Douglas) Straub of Onsted, Michigan; one sister: Melinda "Cookie" Wenzel of Dundee; five grandchildren: Hillary (Michael) Calvird, Nicholas (Corey) Straub, Emily Remaklus, Benjamin (Amanda) Remaklus, and Mairin Remaklus; five great grandchildren: Maci, Olivia, Michael, Charleigh, and Aubree; and her spoiled Yorkie: Missy.
Friends may gather from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Monday; April 25, 2022 at Merkle Funeral Service, Dundee; 297 Tecumseh Street, Dundee, Michigan 48131 (734) 529-3156. A Celebration of Her Life will follow at 1:00pm also at Merkles with Reverend Jen Kiefer pastor of St. John Lutheran Church officiating. Procession will follow to Maple Grove Cemetery for burial.
