Ann, Robert, Lori, Lesli, Linda, and Lisa, I am So sorry to hear of your loss. There are no words that can comfort the loss of someone so loved by all of you. Your husband and dad was a great man which you already knew. He always put a smile on your face when you were around him. He will be missed by so many that he left behind. But take comfort in knowing that you are in everyone whose lives that you have touched thoughts and prayers.

Ann, I am so sorry for your loss! I'll never forget the day I discovered I could break through that gruff exterior and get a smile by giving him chocolate at the senior center :) I still love his name, even though he always scoffed at me when I told him haha. I miss seeing you at the center!
Love,
Missy Maenle

I worked with Finlay at Monroe Public Schools when I was the Transportation Director. He was hired for the man that he was. He could enforce the rules when needed and you knew not to challenge him. At the same time you could see his kind heart. That's the type of person we attempted to hire at MPS.
I also enjoyed speaking with him on a personal level
Rest in Peace my friend.

Thank you for your kind words. Dad enjoyed working with you also, Kim, and everyone at the ‘bus barn.’ Lots of great memories. We came across the newspaper article his father kept when Dad helped apply reflective tape to all of the MPS school buses. Safety first, always.

I want to send my thoughts , prayers and hugs to the family of Finlay. We worked together at Monroe Public Schools . We rode together, him as the driver and me as the assistant for the Discovery Pre School Program.. I loved every minute of it. Finlay could have a gruff exterior but he had the softest heart. He always talked about his wife Anne and his kids and grandchildren. You just knew he loved them very much. When ever he would make his trips to Florida during school break he always made sure he brought back something for my kids. A Beanie baby for my daughter or something with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers logo for my son because he knew how much they liked them. He was one of the best men I ever knew.
With love, Joyce Kapp

Mary and I wish to extend our condolences to the family. I met Mac when I worked with Ann at the Juvenile Division of the Probate Court in Monroe. That was my first “adult job”. During my 20’s he was more than a friend; he probably had a more profound affect on my then young adulthood than any other older/more experienced adult I ever encountered.
Initially I associated with Mac to share a common interest in motorcycles, old cars and boats, airplanes (Mary and I took ground school and some flying lessons with Ann and Mac).
What I came to learn and appreciate about Mac was that he was the kindest person I ever met up to that point in my life but in a very mature, masculine, and responsible manner. While he didn’t suffer fools lightly, I never saw him intentionally belittle anyone. Rather he could politely say in a few words what others would take far too long to lecture about while remaining civil. Those who felt Mac respected them appreciate his inclusion in their lives.
Prior to becoming a father, myself I appreciated Mac’s example of a parent. Some of his children worked for us at a business we owned in Monroe. They were extremely responsible, had tremendous people skills and at the same time independent and fun loving, qualities The family always exhibited and seemed to have been given freedom to be themselves and explore various paths.
Mac will be missed.
