Linda Worley

Obituary of Linda Kathleen Worley

Linda Kathleen Cicero was born on January 25, 1950, in Monroe, Michigan. She was one of four children born from the union of August Joseph and Irene (Vargo) Cicero. Linda was educated at Lincoln School in Monroe.

On September 26, 1970, her life changed forever as she married the love of her life, Jimmy Wayne Worley Sr. The happy couple would be blessed with two wonderful children: Tammy and Jimmy, Jr. Linda cared for the needs of her family as a homemaker nurturing and raising her children.   Once they were grown, she headed out into the work force taking employment as a housekeeper for local retailers Sears and Roebuck and Elder Beerman. After working for ten years, Linda, would retire at the age of sixty-two.

Above anything, Linda loved her family. At least every other day she spent many hours talking on the phone with her sister, Helena.  Linda loved to cook and prepare a meal for her family to savor.  Each Sunday she made the best spaghetti and meatballs from scratch.

Linda was especially proud when she became a grandmother, in fact, she treasured every second of it.   She only had one rule, she could not be called “grandma”, so the grandchildren affectionately called her “Nonnie” instead.  Linda lovingly looked after daughter Tammy and son-in-law:  Timothy’s children each day so that they could work.   On many occasions, Linda and her granddaughter, Tatum could be seen eating fruit while sitting on the porch swing.  While “Paw” was sleeping, the duo would often sneak over to the Dollar Store for impromptu shopping.   On half days of school, Linda would pick up her grandson, Tyler, and take him to lunch.   The restaurant destination was always Tyler’s choice and nine times out of ten, he chose McDonald’s although Applebee’s was his other go-to.   Linda also spent time shooting hoops with Tyler using the basketball net that hangs over the door.

Linda Kathleen Worley, age 72, of Monroe passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Her passing was preceded by her parents; one son: Jimmy Worley Jr,; two brothers: August “Sonny” Cicero Jr and John Cicero; and one infant sister: Mary Cicero.

To cherish her memory, Linda leaves her husband of fifty-two years: Jimmy Wayne Worley Sr.; one daughter:  Tammy (Timothy) Dozier; one sister: Helena “Tip” Harmon; one brother: Robert (Pat) Cicero; three grandchildren: Crystal, Tatum, and Tyler; one great grandson: Caiden; and her beloved four-legged companion, a Maltese-Shih Tzu dog:  Spunky.
