Obituary of Cheryl Faye Sheehan
Cheryl Faye Onan was born on December 10, 1953 in Danville, Kentucky. She was one of five children born to the union of Isaac Onan and Dora Jean (McWilliams) Onan. She attended Airport Community Schools in Carleton, Michigan graduating with the class of 1971. Shortly after high school, Cheryl enlisted in the United States Army. Following her honorable discharge, Cheryl, would obtain her bachelors degree. Her military background would lead her to become an Investigative Analyst for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms before retiring in 2015.
Cheryl was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe, Michigan. She was also a member of the Monroe Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1138. Being very fond of Country music, one of Cheryl’s favorite pastimes was line dancing, and when she was able, she loved attending country music concerts. In her free time, Cheryl, enjoyed crocheting and reading romance novels. She was known for her independent and very strong-willed personality.
Cheryl Faye Sheehan, age 68, of Monroe, Michigan passed away on Sunday; March 13, 2022 at her home with her daughter Colleen by her side. Her passing was preceded by her parents: Isaac Onan and Dora Jean Onan and her nephew: Samuel Onan.
To cherish her memory she leaves her daughter: Colleen Sheehan of Monroe; two sons: Sean and Donovan Sheehan both of Monroe; two sisters: Janet Onan of Arizona and Mary (Ken) Lindsay of Pennsylvania; two brothers: Brian Onan of Monroe and Chris (Toni) Onan of Flat Rock, Michigan; six grandchildren: Isaac, Gavin, Tyler, Wolfe, Jeanette; and Owen.
Friends may gather from 1:00pm until 7:00pm on Wednesday; March 16, 2022 at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Thursday; March 17, 2022 at 11:00am also at Merkle’s with Pastor Mark Witte of Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe officiating. Procession will follow to Gethsemane Cemetery where graveside services will be under the auspices of the Monroe Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1138.
