Obituary of Stanley Lee Fultz
Stanley Lee Fultz was born in Tazewell, Tennessee on January 13, 1941. He was a twin and the eldest of three children born from the union of Howard Fultz and Hazel (Rosenbalm) Fultz. Stanley was a graduate of Claiborne High School. He would continue his studies achieving his Associate and Bachelor Degrees. He enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably during the Vietnam War from 1960-1964. He functioned in graves registry as a Medic being stationed Germany.
Stan would meet his future wife the former Georgia Mae Earls while still in grade school. Stanley was so enamored with her beauty inside and out, of his childhood sweetheart, that he asked her mother to “save her for me”. The couple were joined in marriage on June 30, 1964.
Upon moving to Michigan from Tazewell in December of 1964, Stan took a position with Memorial Hospital in Monroe as a Medical Technologist. The following year he would begin an eighteen-year career as a Med Tech in the Laboratory at Riverside Oesteopathic Hospital in Trenton.
Stanley had a passion for fine art. On March 3, 1978, Stanley and Georgia opened the Fultz Gallery and Framing on Front Street in Monroe. The couple also owned a separate second location in Sylvania, Ohio for ten years in the 1980’s. Stan was a whiz on the computer and painstakingly performed photo restoration. He was very creative and talented putting together finely framed and matted pieces for customers who many truly became lifelong friends, coming back time and time again. Passionate about his work his own home became a testament to many of his favorite pieces including much military art. They retired on June 30, 2016 after thirty-eight years.
Stan was extremely proud of his military service he was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1138 and faithfully served on Ritual Team for many years. A disabled veteran himself, Stan was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America 142, Life Member of Disabled American Veterans, and a member of the Last Two Men Club, an invitation only group of Vietnam Veterans. He also was a Life Member of the Masonic Lodge 27 Free & Accepted Masons for more than forty years, Life Member of the Scottish Rite, and member of the Shriners. Stan and Georgia were faithful members of the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church for many years.
Stan made friends wherever he went. He loved to shoot the breeze and was well-known for his non-argumentative smooth personality. He knew enough to walk away instead of fighting if he had a disagreement. He had a wonderful smile and his laugh was contagious. Stan was kind and generous,
He loved classic cars owning several throughout the years although his current “baby” was a 2012 Grand Sport Corvette convertible. He was a member of the Monroe Area Street Rod Association.
