Uncle Jim was a true man of God, he not only taught myself, about lifes journey, he was friend to everyone he met. He could tell a story with such humor, great detail, and emotion. Whenever Jim met you, it was with a genuine smile, strong handshake and a hello that stayed within your heart. He made everyone feel warm and happy, you see he wanted you to laugh and feel good, he was a special man in my life and i will truly miss him. My heart aches for this wonderful, loving, caring man and my endless love will always be with my dear God Mother, Aunt Alice , cousins Jim, Janice, Jamie and the entire LaPrad Family. Uncle Jim "PA" loved his sports and really was a great supporter of MCCHS, he was well known as a fast-pitch pitcher in men's softball as well as an awesome umpire. Oh and the best meat man in Monroe! He was quite the character as a comedian in my life, especially as Father Niche; Remember he acted the part, he was really fast for a short, little fat guy! Plus being able to throw with either his left hand or right hand!! Man - Uncle Jim you were one-of-a-kind, a fun uncle who cared about enjoying life. You did teach me alot and I'm blessed you were my God Father. So with all my heart I say; "I love you, I miss you, I can see you telling a joke, I see you with "Elvis" singing I did it "my way". So until we meet again, may your enduring love for this huge family be with us all and your memory live on, until we meet again. I know your are safe in the arms of the Lord, rest in peace my brother in Christ, Amen...

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I have many fond memories of Mr LaPrad, especially the times he took us kids to Detroit Dragway. He was a thoughtful, caring neighbor and man. I know he will be deeply missed.

Dear Alice and Family, I am so sorry to know of your loss. Jim was one of a kind in so many ways: Contagious smile, sense of humor and a sparkle in his eye that always seemed to speak of mischief. May his soul rest in peace and may the Lord bless you all with continued love and family harmony. My prayers and best wishes for you all.

My deepest sympathies to the family of James LaPrad. I was so fortunate to meet Mr. LaPrad through his grand daugther Rebecca. We spent countless summers on the ball field and the "Commissioner" was always there cheering us on. Such a caring and loving man that is going to be missed greatly. Now he has the best seat up in heaven to watch the games!
Love,
Ashley Willard (Gilson)

My deepest sympathies to the family. I had the pleasure of working with Jim at Food Town when I was in high school. Being a springboard diver, which Jim knew, whenever I would walk by the windows of the meat department, he would use the white styrofoam trays and hold up a score (usually a 9.5). I always got a kick out of that. In recent years whenever I would attend a SMCC sporting event, I could look in the crowd and Jim would whip out some paper, write a score on it an hold it up for me to see. Even after 40 years he still remember the connection we had. He will be missed more than you can imagine.

Our condolences to the LaPrad family. Jim was a friend of our families most of my life and one of my brother's best friends. He was always in a great mood and could easily have been a comedian! Jim loved to have a laugh and kept you on your toes! Jim was the definition of a family man. Blessed to have known him! RIP Jim Nothing but great memories!
