Carol Sieb

Obituary of Carol Sieb

Carol Yvonne Woolford was born on February 16, 1940, in Belleville, Michigan. She was the daughter of Stuart and Phyllis (LaForte) Close.   She attended Airport Schools and graduated with the Class of 1958 from Airport High School.  Carol was a four-year member of the concert band playing the baritone, and the marching band majorette.  In 1957, Carol composed the Airport school fight song, a fact that she remained very proud of throughout her life.  She then attended Elkhart University to prepare for a 35-year career in the medical field. She worked in labs as a phlebotomist, managed multiple medical offices, and was especially passionate about helping Seniors with their insurance claims.  Later, Carol would continue her education at Monroe County Community College to obtain her business degree.

Carol married the love of her life, James Sieb, on May 21, 1960.   Jim and Carol were blessed with two children, Randall and Kathleen.  Carol was very talented, especially when creating quilts, crocheting, sewing, and cake decorating.

Carol was an active member of the Carleton United Methodist Church.   She gave in many different capacities serving as past President of the Ladies’ Auxiliary group, music director, including the bell choir, was head of the worship committee, and served on many different boards of the church.   Probably her greatest gift, however, was that of being the church pianist and organist for more than twenty years. She shared her musical talent with many people as she also was a concert pianist for many years.

Carol adored her family.   She especially enjoyed the opportunity to watch her grandchildren, travel with her husband, spend time with her parents, and laugh with her friends. She was the Chairperson for the Monroe division of the Red Hat Society, among many other organizations that she would join and contribute to.

Carol Sieb, age 81, of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly at 4:50pm on Thursday; October 28, 2021, at ProMedica Monroe Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.   Her passing was preceded by her parents Phyllis and Stuart Close.
