Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Orosco
Elizabeth Ann Orosco was born on April 21, 1962 in Monroe, Michigan. She was one of seven children born to John E. and Alicia (Lucio) Orosco Sr. Liz attended Erie Mason High School. She was employed as a welder at Ford Motor Company before retiring in 2000.
Liz had a unique personality she was eccentric yet an extrovert as well. There was often loud music playing in her home which ranged from worship hymns, to classic rock, to nineties rap. Liz adored animals and opened her home to many abandoned cats. She also loved horses and decorated with a large collection of equine décor. Prior to her declining health, Liz, painstakingly maintained a beautiful garden with lush, colorful flowers. Liz enjoyed watching classic films, however her all-time favorites were Finding Nemo and Finding Dory. So much so that she referred to herself as “Dory Girl”!
Liz had many friends and opened her heart to all people. Her favorite people in all the world were her grandchildren and she enjoyed spending time with them. Her funny and silly nature was perfectly suited to entertain them. Liz was a woman who loved deeply and unconditionally, and will forever be remembered for her generosity and kindness.
Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Orosco, age 59, of Monroe, Michigan passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Vibrant Life under the care of Caroline Hospice and her daughter Nisan by her side. Her passing was preceded by her grandparents; a sister: Sonja Orosco-Goins; and an infant brother: Augustine Orosco.
To cherish her memory, she leaves a daughter: Nisan (Ray) Hoermann; a son: Thomas Derbeck; her parents: John and Alicia Orosco; three grandsons: Jeremy Billings, Marcus Young, and Landon Hoermann; two sisters: Paula (Walt) Cooley and Maria (Keith) Knieriem; two brothers: John Orosco Jr. and Juaquin (Debe) Orosco; many aunts and uncles; numerous nieces and nephews; a close friend of forty years: Theresa Burke; and three feline companions: “Mi Sol” “Smokey” and “Eddie”.
Friends may gather on Saturday; October 16, 2021 from 1:00pm until 5:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070. A Celebration of Elizabeth’s Life will follow at 5:00pm also at Merkle’s with Pastor Roy Southerland presiding. Cremation will take place through Covenant Cremation in Erie and inurnment be at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle, Michigan.
