Obituary of Shirley Mahelia Breitner
Shirley Mahelia Moore was born on December 19, 1936, in Dundee, Michigan. She was the only daughter of three children born to the union of Roger Moore and Wanda (Lloyd) Moore. Shirley would attend Dundee Community Schools graduating from the Dundee High School with the class of 1955. Shortly after commencements, she would marry the love of her life, Larry Keith Breitner. The couple would be blessed with the birth of three children.
Shirley was a homemaker and she found it extremely rewarding to care for the needs of her husband and children. Not only did she raise her three children, but she also cared for her own mother for over twenty years, after the sudden unexpected passing of her father. Shirley looked forward to daily lunch dates with mom, time together that they both treasured.
Shirley truly was the glue that held her family together. It was in her home that family gathered time and again to celebrate holidays and birthdays. She was the consummate party host happily performing all the necessary cooking for these special events. Many mouths watered, hoping Shirley was serving her “super famous” lasagna dish. From time to time, Shirley, looked forward to spending time with family and friends to play a friendly game of Euchre, as long as she was winning.
Shirley Mahelia Breitner, age 84, a lifelong resident of Dundee, passed away at her home at 4:45pm on Wednesday; August 25, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family and under the care of ProMedica Monroe Hospice. Her passing was preceded by her parents.
