John Barker II

Obituary of John Hayden Barker II

John Hayden Barker II was born on September 15, 1967 in Toledo, Ohio to John Hayden Barker  and the former Arietta Burnell Cruise.   John was a 1985 graduate of Bedford High School in Temperance, Michigan. He proudly served his country, joining the United States Army at the young age of seventeen. John was employed by Johnson Controls Interior Molding as a machine operator for eight years, a job he truly loved. A talented cook, he also worked for various restaurants in Monroe, Michigan. His passion for cooking extended to the home, where he would prepare his specialty, chicken parmesan, for his family.

On April 9, 2005 John was joined in marriage to the former Laurie Ann Robinson at the North Monroe Street Church of God. They would be blessed with one son and one daughter. John cherished spending time with his children, whom he adored.

John carefully studied the Bible and other Christian texts. He had done extensive research on the Beatitudes in the Gospel of Matthew, particularly the Sermon on the Mount. A member of Lifeline pro-life group, he was instrumental in organizing the National Day of Prayer in Monroe.

John never missed an episode of “America’s Got Talent” and also enjoyed action movies, especially the Marvel and Star Wars series.  He was excited and proud to have recently received his Ham Radio license. A quiet but friendly person, John, was very giving and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His employment and activism led him to meet many people throughout the area and everyone loved him.
