Obituary of Brenda Kendrick

Brenda Gail Day was born at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, Michigan on October 24, 1948.   She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Day and the late Lennie (Baldwin) Day of Dundee.   Brenda was baptized on March 26, 1961, by Pastor Edward Day at the First Congregational Church of Dundee.   She attended Dundee Community Schools graduating from Dundee High School with the Class of 1966.   She would then attend Cleary College in Ypsilanti, Michigan obtaining her Associates Degree in 1968.  

 

Brenda was employed by the University of Michigan, the Dundee Branch of the Monroe County Library System, and worked as an Avon consultant part time.   She enjoyed the theatre and attending plays in her leisure.   She also loved to travel throughout Michigan, visiting lighthouses and researching each one’s history.

 

Brenda Gail (Day) Kendrick, age 72, of Dundee passed away on Friday; August 20, 2021, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.   In addition to her parents, Brenda’s passing was preceded by a beloved daughter:  Angela Kendrick.   Survivors left to cherish her memory include her sister Dixie Smith of Dundee; niece:  Lennie Alcorn and her husband Frederick Mason of Monroe, nephew:  Reverend Mark Smith of Canada; great-nieces:  Alexis and Chandler Long; a dear cousin:  Audrey Kay Smith of Dundee who was like a sister to Brenda Gail; cousin:  Ryan Smith of Monroe; a host of cousins in Tennessee, and her dear friend:  James Annis.

 

Friends may gather at 5:00pm on Sunday; August 22, 2021, for a graveside service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee Township (intersection of Brewer Road and Davis Road).   Reverend B.J. McDaniel pastor of One Way Christian Fellowship will officiate, and burial will follow.  Merkle Funeral Service, Dundee; 297 Tecumseh Street, Dundee, Michigan 48131 (734) 529-3156 has been entrusted with her care.
