Obituary of Kenneth Charles Green
Kenneth Charles Green was born in White Cloud, Michigan on March 2, 1942. He was the son of Karl and Ruth (Schank) Green. Growing up in Detroit near Tiger Stadium, Ken, was destined to be an avid Detroit Tigers baseball fan. Over the course of his life, he would go on to collect thousands of baseball cards and Tigers memorabilia. During his youth, Ken, sold newspapers across the street from the ballfield, always keeping a keen eye out for any limousine that might arrive. When one did pull up, Ken, swept in to open the door for whatever celebrity was certain to be inside. It was through this behavior that Ken was most excited to have met Joe Louis himself, and of course an encounter that he never forgot.
While working at a hotel in Seattle, Washington, in 1986 Ken would meet his future wife, Kimberly Dawn Johnson. Before too long Ken followed Kim back home to Michigan and the couple were joined in marriage at the Monroe county courthouse on October 1, 1993.
A social person, Ken enjoyed gathering with his friends to play euchre at the Monroe Moose Lodge 884. He collected Native American décor and had a vast knowledge of United States coins gained from following the Littleton Coin Company. If Ken were relaxing in front of the television, he was most certainly watching Gunsmoke or the original Batman series. A kind-hearted, loving and compassionate man with a great sense of humor, Ken’s presence was greatly appreciated by all who knew him.
