Bret Pfaff

Obituary of Bret Allen Pfaff

Bret Allen Pfaff was born on July 29, 1958, in Omaha, Nebraska. He was one of three children born from the union of Hollis and Maureen (McMullen) Pfaff.  Bret attended Jefferson High School and graduated with the Class of 1976.   He continued his education at Monroe County Community College where he attended trade school.

On June 18, 1987, Bret was joined in marriage to the love of his life, the former Staci Cornoyer, at the former Bethany Baptist Church. The couple were blessed with one daughter: Brittany.

A hard worker, Bret worked as a boiler operator for DTE Energy for forty years, retiring in 2017.  For many years he enjoyed meeting up with his coworkers to play on DTE’s softball league. When he was not playing ball, he enjoyed going to Comerica Park to watch the Detroit Tiger’s play, where he was a season ticket holder.

Bret looked forward to the summer months where he could spend time outside getting in a round of golf at Sandy Creek, River Raisin, or Old Towne golf courses. He also enjoyed taking his boat out on Lake Erie where he would spend countless hours fishing for walleye.

Bret was “one of a kind.”  He had a loving nature about him and was a gentle soul. He was quiet but had a quirky side as well.  Bret enjoyed time with his family, especially on the 4th of July, when he would put on a large firework display. Although he was an easy-going kind of guy, he did not hesitate to show his competitive side during the family’s Texas Hold ‘Em tournaments!

Bret Allen Pfaff, age 62, of Newport, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 18, 2021.  His passing was preceded by his father: Hollis Pfaff and his beloved wife: Staci Pfaff in 2020.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his daughter: Brittany (James) Monday; mother: Maureen Pfaff; sister: Lori (Kenneth) O’Dell; brother: Dennis (Jenifer) Pfaff; and his Australian Shephard and canine companion:  Dakota who was always by his side.
