Obituary of Grover Cupp
Grover Cupp was born in Cubbage, Kentucky on May 12, 1933, he was a son of Myrtle Rapier (Pittman), Mattie Cupp and Viola Perkins. On December 21, 1951, Grover would meet and marry the love of his life, the former Lois Maxine Lovitt. Together this union would be blessed with the birth of two children. To provide for his family, Grover would gain employment at the Ford Motor Company as a maintenance welder and remain working there for thirty-five years.
Above anything, Grover treasured and loved his wife, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He would cook meals for his entire family and would always take special requests from them to ensure each person would get to feast on the dish they were craving, even if all the dishes were completely different. It was stated Grover made the best meatloaf and he could pop the best popcorn. He was known as the egg cooker for the Masonic Lodge 27 breakfasts, where he and his son David were members. He also would never miss a Saturday to deliver biscuits and gravy to his daughter, Karen.
One of Grover’s hobbies was that of rock polishing. However, this pastime was short lived as he discovered the satisfaction of treasure hunting using a metal detector. He had over fifty thousand pieces of treasure he found. His most known find was a man’s diamond ring.
Grover and his son in law, Bill, worked on many projects together. In fact, their most memorable endeavor was working on building the house that Bill and Karen now live in. This was no surprise to anyone who knew Grover as he was very talented, and he could fix anything. Grover will always be remembered for being an exceptional, loving, caring, helpful, sweetheart of a man. He also had a great sense of humor and was always fun to be around.
