Carolyn McDaniel

Obituary of Carolyn Faye McDaniel

Carolyn Faye Pierce was born in Monroe, Michigan on September 14, 1941. She was one of four Children born from the union of Troy and Levonia Pierce. Carolyn graduated from the Monroe High School with the class of 1959. She would go on to find employment at Howard Ternes, Fermi, and as assistant manager at Kitchen Collection. She would retire from Kitchen Collection in March 2007. Carolyn married the love of her life, Roy McDaniel, on February 24, 1962. They would spend 58 years together in marriage before Roy passed away on June 23, 2020. Carolyn and Roy loved each other very much and were great example of what a marriage should be.

Carolyn was very devoted to her family, and she loved spending time with them. Her home was always the “gathering place”. She loved hosting family events there and it was always her priority to make everyone feel warm and welcome. She was an excellent cook, and everyone would rave about her chili, her ham, her soup beans, and her various dessert dishes.

She always looked forward to her annual trips that she would take with her sister Linda or the family vacations to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Carolyn was an avid Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers fan. You could always find her cheering for both of those teams whenever they were on the television. She also loved watching movies. Her favorite genres were mysteries, thrillers, or scary movies.

Anyone who knew Carolyn also knew that she had a love for animals. She loved dogs, cats, and pretty much any other kind of animal that would wander onto her property. In recent years she even named a neighborhood squirrel “Sammy”, and she would handfeed him daily. Carolyn was a natural nurturer. She had a magnetic personality that attracted people to her wherever she went. She was very outgoing, and she never met a stranger. She was also known for being very generous.

Carolyn’s’ faith was very important to her. As a young girl she had accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and in recent years she always reminded her family about the need for praying daily. Carolyn, age 79, of Monroe, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 4, 2021. Her passing was preceded by her husband of fifty-eight years: Roy McDaniel; her parents: Troy and Levonia Pierce; and her brother: Eddie Dean Pierce.

To cherish her memory, Carolyn leaves three sons: Brian (Lori) McDaniel, Michael McDaniel, and Shane McDaniel all of Monroe; a daughter: Traci (Sean) Stephenson of Bloomfield Hills; her brother: Arnie (Sue) Pierce of Plymouth; her sister: Linda (Kenneth) Hall of Monroe; six grandchildren: Rev B.J. (Darci) McDaniel, Brandon (Amanda) McDaniel, Bradlee (Linzy) McDaniel, Logan Owens, Ava Stephenson, and Emma Stephenson; and nine great Grandchildren.
