Neal Wylie

Obituary of Neal Charles Wylie

Neal Charles Wylie was born in Monroe, Michigan on September 20, 1961. He was one of three children born from the union of Paul Wiley and Nellie (Miracle) Wiley.   Neal was a graduate of Monroe High School.   He attended Monroe Missionary Bible Baptist Church and RSC Christian Church.

Neal’s visits to watch his nephew, Michael race Pro ET Dragbike at Milan Dragway quickly evolved into him being part of the pit crew.   He demonstrated his value time and time again while becoming an essential member of the team that assisted his nephew in winning the championship.   Neal loved to fish and he took every opportunity that presented itself to cast a line.   He would fish the rivers and lakes, catching and releasing Smallmouth Bass, but it’s been said more than once, that Neal would fish a mud puddle if he had a rod in his hand. In fact, it was at his daughter’s home in a “mud puddle” of a pond that Neal caught a 9 ¾ lb. Largemouth Bass. Neal and his brother and best friend, Gilbert, enjoyed Pheasant hunting together and would go on long, meandering drives though the area to watch wildlife.

Neal was a quiet and private man who appreciated the simple things in life. He loved to eat, but left the cooking up to his mother and brother, with whom she shared all of her special recipes. Neal loved his great nephews as much as his own adored grandchildren, looking forward to seeing their latest photos posted to Facebook.

Neal Charles Wylie, age 59, of Monroe, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, May 16, 2021.   His passing was preceded by his grandparents; his mother: Nellie Wiley; a brother in-law: Fred Soto; and many aunts and uncles.

Left to cherish his memory are two children:  Levi (Lindsey) Wylie and Christie (Paul) Parker, his father: Paul Wylie; four grandchildren: Logan, Waylon, Millie, and Lincoln; one sister: Paula Soto; one brother: Gilbert (Marilyn) Wylie, a niece: Katie (Josh) Barker; three nephews: Michael Mullendore, Paul Wylie, and Gilbert Aguirre; and two great nephews: Mason and William Barker.
