Obituary of John Dennis Haut
John Dennis Haut was born on May 30, 1943 in New Baltimore, Michigan. He was one of five children born from the union of Joseph and Marian (Day) Haut. In 1961, John, would graduate from Airport High School.
John married the love of his life, the former Darlene Masserant on June 18, 1966 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Newport. Two month later he was drafted in the United States Army, 1966-1968, which he served one year in Vietnam. The couple would be blessed with two children, and he would provide for the needs of his family employed by General Motors for over forty-five years. After retirement in 2007, he volunteered to help sell flowers for the Verona Fathers Comboni Missionaries. He also enjoyed flipping houses with his family.
Above anything, John loved his family. He cherished the time he spent with each one, especially the grandchildren, often attending their sporting events to cheer them on. John also liked getting together with his friends as well.
As a devoted member of St. Charles Catholic Church, John volunteered in many different facets. He was known for his reliability and would always show up whenever help was needed. John was also a member of the Order of the Founders and Patriots of America.
John Dennis Haut, age 77, of Newport passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. He was surrounded by his beloved family. His passing was preceded by his parents; two brothers: Theodore Haut and Robert Haut; and one sister: Joan Fairchild.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife of nearly fifty-five years: Darlene; two children: John Haut, Jr and Alma (Vince) D’Alfonso; three grandchildren: John “Trey” Haut, III, Nick D’Alfonso and Abby D’Alfonso; a brother: Lynwood (Nancy) Haut; and a sister-in-law: Barb Haut.
Friends may gather on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. He will lie-in-state from 10:00am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00am at St. Charles Church; 8033 North Dixie Highway, Newport, Michigan 48166. Procession will follow to St. Charles Cemetery for interment.
