Oh, how we Cranbrook kids from the 1960s and 70s remember the Finley family so fondly!! My sister, Sara, and I were reminiscing last night after we saw Mr. Finley's obituary in the Monroe News. We decided that the Finleys were the quintessential "All American Family" of that era!! If the world today were filled with clones of the Finley family, this planet would be a much better place! I remember your backyard pool; your parents let the whole neighborhood swim. Once, I got to take care of that pool while you were all on vacation, and of course I got to swim that week anytime I wanted to! I remember that Mr. Finley used to let us Cantrick kids wait for the early morning bus in your living room. He was chipper and cheerful and waited with us. I remember him talking about this new singer, Barry Manilow, who he liked very much. I think he even sang for us occasionally as we awaited the arrival of the bus!! Of course, Mr. Finley was our mailman waaaay back when the Cranbrook sub was on his route. We were all sad when his route changed to the Manor sub, and we didn't get to see his friendly face on our front porches every day any longer. I extend my sincere condolences to all of you: Mrs. Finley, Debbie, Karen, Brian, Jeff, and Michael. Thank you all for for being such a special part of my growing up years. Mr. Finley's memory lives on in the lives of the many people he touched over his long life. I am blessed to have known him, and each and every one of you. Sally Kinner-Poore
