Obituary of Roger Abraham Lamb
Roger Abraham Lamb was born in South Rockwood, Michigan on February 12, 1931. He was one of seven children born from the union of the late Virgil Faye and Bonnie Charity (McLellan) Lamb. Roger attended Airport High School and as a young man took employment at the service station on the corner of Ready and Telegraph Roads. On the opposite corner his future wife, the former Pearl Unzicker, was employed at Tillie’s, a restaurant. It was fate that the two would meet, fall in love, and marry.
The youngsters would be joined in marriage on July 30, 1949, in Carleton. Soon the couple would be blessed with three sons. Roger was a true family man and treasured the time he spent with his boys. He loved working on cars, was extremely knowledgeable, and took great pride in sharing his skills with many of the local kids. The youths often expressed their gratitude for the invaluable life lessons learned.
Roger loved to work. In fact, he often commented about how he looked forward to Monday’s so he could return to work and avoid any additional weekend chores. For more than twenty years he was employed by the Ash Township Water Department. He would retire just shy of his eightieth birthday.
Following retirement, Roger enjoyed meeting several friends each morning at the “donut shop”. Their morning rendezvous often lasted until lunch as they exchanged intriguing stories of daily life.
