Carolyn Fashbaugh

Obituary of Carolyn Jean Fashbaugh

Carolyn Radcliffe was born January 15, 1947 in Monroe, Michigan to the late Roy “Red” and Mary (Walters) Radcliffe.  On May 16, 1970, she would marry Mickey Fashbaugh.  Together the two were blessed with one son.  Early in their marriage, the couple would take many snow skiing trips to the Gaylord, Michigan area.  They often took their son, Brad, to Boyne Mountain, where he learned how to ski.

For twenty-two years, Carolyn, was employed as a school bus driver for Monroe Public Schools, which she loved very much.   She retired in 2007 and following her retirement, Carolyn looked forward to watching, The Wheel of Fortune, Northwood Law, Maine Cabin Builder and Insane Pool Builders on television.

Being a lover of the local wildlife, Carolyn enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and deer in the field by her new home in Blissfield.  She helped her husband Mick with logging the number of deer seen going between the two woods.  This path was only 100 yards from their home and Carolyn called it the “deer expressway”.   Each year they counted over 1100 sightings.

Carolyn loved to read, finishing numerous novels throughout the years.  She could often be found swinging in her egg swing chair that Mick bought her, with her neighbor Joey, while wearing their princess hats.  Carolyn liked going out to eat at different types of restaurants. Her favorite was Jerry’s Tavern on Wampler’s Lake. Although she liked dining out, Carolyn found enjoyment in cooking and baking for her family.

Some of her fondest memories were giving birth to her son, a five-island cruise in the Caribbean and a two-week vacation to Alaska, where the temperatures averaged seventy degrees.

Carolyn was a very friendly, young at heart lady to all and she never complained.  She had a quiet disposition and a kind smile for most everyone she met.

Carolyn Fashbaugh, age 74, of Blissfield passed away unexpectedly at 9:56am on Saturday, January 30, 2021 in her home.   Carolyn fought a very hard two-month-long heart-breaking battle with cancer.  She was in and out of two hospitals while obtaining chemotherapy.   Carolyn battled all day and every day but eventually the chemo wore her down.   In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her grandparents.  She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, neighbors, and special pal, “Dudley”, who was the family’s Lab.

To cherish her memory, Carolyn leaves her husband of more than fifty years:  Mickey; son:  Brad (Jennifer) Fashbaugh of Farmington Hills; brother-in-law and sister-in-law:  Jim and Nancy Kammer of Atlanta, Michigan; many nieces and cousins.
