Mike Lee

Obituary of Mike Lee

William Michael Lee was born in Lincoln Park, Michigan on June 26, 1945.  He was one of three children born from the union of William and Helen (Skinner) Lee.  He lived most of his younger years in Lincoln Park, which is where he went to high school.

Mike had two children and would marry the lovely, Dorothy Edith (Kostich) Lee, in Davidson, Tennessee on June 21, 1996. Together they formed a blended family with five children.

In his spare time, weather permitting of course, you could find Mike out on the open road, riding his Harley Davidson.  Throughout the years, he enjoyed hundreds of miles of wind therapy, visiting various places in Michigan.  Mike was especially fond of the trip that he, Joey Brancheau and Tom took to Sturgis on their Harley’s.  He was  a master mechanic and a talented fabricator and welder. He often used his talents to create remarkable choppers and powerful muscle cars.

Mike was always excited to watch his grandson race quads at the motor cross track.  Being an avid hockey fan, Mike enjoyed cheering on the Detroit Red Wings at their home games.  If he was not watching them in person, you could bet he would have it on his tv.  He also valued watching the old Clint Eastwood movies with Julie in her younger years.

In 2010, Mike retired as a truck driver from Yellow Trucking, where he had worked for over twenty years.  He was a member of the Teamsters Local 299 out of Detroit.  Many will remember the words of wisdom that he often shared; “The difficult will get done right away.  The impossible might take a little longer.”

William Michael Lee, age 75, of Belleville, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Beaumont Hospital in Wayne, surrounded by his family.  In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by his wife: Dorothy, and his sisters: Marjorie Beauman and Ginny Brancheau.

To cherish his memory, Mike leaves five children: Tom (Ronda) Lee, Julie (Jared) Romanski, Billy (Tina) Kostich, Kandi Kostich, and Dan (Brittney) Kostich; six grandchildren: Paul Mang, Kayla Kostich, Jamie Lee, Jared Romanski Jr., Mikayla Lee and Billy Kostich; one great-grandchild: Sawyer Kostich.
