Charlene Hamman

Obituary of Charlene Lynn Hamman

Charlene Lynn Hamman was born on May 28, 1950 in Toledo, Ohio.   She was one of seven children born during the union of Charles William Hamman and Martha (Buyakie) Hamman.

Above anything, family was of the utmost importance to Charlene. She proudly doted over her daughter, and her granddaughter anytime she could.  For some time, Charlene, was blessed to live in a home attached to her daughter’s home in Arizona.   Charlene also had a special bond with two of her feline friends: Bubba and the late Stubby.

Throughout her lifetime, Charlene, had worked for several different employers.   Some of her most memorable experiences were working at American Express (where she became best friends with Judy Welsh), the Enrico Fermi Power Plant doing data accounting and at Monroe Florist.   As an employee she was considered dependable and well organized.

Charlene relished taking walks around Luna Pier, where she grew up, especially with her best friends: Susie LeBlanc and Irene Schmidt. The trio would walk and chit chat with the residents of the area. During their teenage years, Charlene and Susie could often be seen swaying at a concert in the Toledo, Ohio or Monroe, Michigan areas, where they both met several rock stars.

Halloween was the holiday Charlene would “go all out” to decorate. She gladly displayed her artistic talents to create gory and eerie decorations to scare people.  She took delight in making Halloween costumes for many people. In fact, she won a few Best Costume Awards in California, Monroe, and Pontiac.

Charlene Lynn Hamman, age 70, of Temperance passed away at Hickory Ridge in Temperance on January 22, 2021 under the care of ProMedica Monroe Hospice.   In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by two brothers:  Bob Hamman in 2011 and an infant twin brother.
