Obituary of Scott Stevens

Timothy Scott Stevens was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on May 19, 1964 to Shelba Stevens and Rayma (Allen) Akins. Scott was a 1982 graduate of Monroe High School and employed in the heating and cooling industry. The owner of Downriver Mechanical, he retired in 2012.

An avid golfer, if Scott was not hitting the links himself, he was watching golf tournaments on television. Scott enjoyed traveled from coast to coast, nearly visiting all fifty states. However, his favorite place to visit was the rolling hills of Kentucky. Scott enjoyed river fishing and was the designated grill master at every family cookout. He also enjoyed visiting casinos, occasionally playing the slots, but more often was found at blackjack table. Known as “Uncle Scott” to everyone, he loved to spend time with his family more than anything else. He was an extremely generous person and ensured that his family was always taken care of.

Timothy Scott Stevens, age 56, of Taylor, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 16, 2021. He was preceded in death by his father: Shelba, his mother: Rayma, grandparents, and feline companion: a ragdoll cat he affectionately called “Sammers”.

Left to cherish his memory are his step father(s): Lonnie Akins of Monroe, and James Joblinski, of Temperance; step mother: Janet Stevens of Riverview; daughter: Megan Paice of Taylor; brother: Jimmy (Tammy Haley) Stevens of Westland; sisters: Beth (Josh) Bentley of Carleton, Leslie (Michael) Richards of Taylor, Michelle Baumann of Monroe, Amber (Matthew) Branum of Houston, Texas, Heather (Jim) Savage of Sylvania, Ohio, and Candi Akins of Sylvania, Ohio; beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was especially close to his cousins Tony (Joanie) Smith and Jimmy Ray Stewart. He will also be sorely missed by his sweetheart, Amanda Crum.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle, Michigan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185.
