Obituary of Marcia Ann Greening
Marcia Ann Greening was born in Monroe, Michigan on December 15, 1948 to Samuel and Helen (Sagan) Voigt. A 1967 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Monroe, she later obtained a certification as a keypunch operator. A homemaker for many years, Marcia was later employed as an administrative assistant for Tenneco Automotive. She was a parishioner of St. Michael Catholic Church in Monroe.
Marcia never considered herself an athlete, but she could often be found knocking down pins at the bowling alley or hitting the links for a round of golf with her kids. Her greatest joy was watching her kids and grandkids play sports. She would never miss a game if it were within her power. She also enjoyed watching the Detroit Piston’s and Detroit Tigers on television.
Marcia cherished the time she spent at her family’s cottage in Irish Hills, where they would boat and ski on the lake. She would spend hours enjoying time playing cards and games with her grandkids and family.
Just like her mom, Marcia spent hours each fall canning vegetables from her parent’s garden, and she made sure that her daughters learned how to do that as well. Marcia was a self-described “foodie” and enjoyed cooking as much as she enjoyed eating. She was an excellent cook and would rather have her family around her kitchen table than be anywhere else in the world. She was always happy when baking for her kids and grandkids. They enjoyed her sweets, which included a variety of pies and the annual treat, Christmas cookies.
Christmas was an extra special time of year for Marcia, who would ensure everyone had a gift under the tree. She would crochet afghans and Christmas stockings to fill with presents. A dog lover, Marcia had a particular affection for Golden Retrievers and although she had many over the years, she had a special connection with “Sullivan”.
Marcia Ann Greening, age 72, of Monroe, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 15, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant siblings, and son: Benjamin Greening.
