Obituary of Pat Vasicek
Patricia Ann (Prucka) Vasicek was born on January 20, 1940 in South Rockwood, Michigan to the union of Frank and Margaret (Weber) Prucka. She was a 1958 graduate of Airport High School. On October 22, 1966 Pat was joined in marriage to Gerald Vasicek at Zion Lutheran Church in Monroe, Michigan. As a young woman, Pat attended dental hygiene school in Indiana and was employed as a dental hygienist at Dr. Doerner’s dental office in Monroe. She later became a school bus driver for both Gibraltar and Jefferson Public Schools.
Pat had a green thumb and could grow any variety of flower. She especially loved her lilies and hydrangeas and more recently, her succulents. A “snowbird”, Pat and her husband, Jerry, would head south every Winter to enjoy the sunny beaches in Holiday, Florida. She also loved to travel with her grandsons. They explored all over Michigan, visiting Traverse City, Mackinac Island, the Upper Peninsula, and all five Great Lakes. Pat was sure to read the newspaper and her Bible every day. She enjoyed learning from home improvement television shows and played along with Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Pat truly loved people, especially her family, and had a story to tell about every person she’d ever met.
Patricia Ann Vasicek, age 80, of Newport, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on January 10, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Joan Prucka-Vasher, brother: Dale Prucka.
Left to cherish her memory, Pat leaves her husband of fifty-four years: Gerald “Jerry” Vasicek, daughter: Martha (Michael) Bills, sisters in-law: Barbara Prucka, Dolores Boyd, and Denise (Terry) Reeder, and grandsons: Michael Bills II and Matthew Bills.
Family and friends may gather from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 323 Scott Street, Monroe, Michigan 48161. A Worship Service Celebrating Her Life will follow at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Daniel Potts officiating.
