Obituary of David Paul Schroeder
David Paul Schroeder was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 29, 1949. He was the youngest of two children born from the union of Harold and Helen (Lathrop) Schroeder. David graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1968 and later went on to serve in the United States Navy, where he would receive an honorable discharge.
Dave coached the Huron River Yellow Jackets youth football team for many years. He also spent a great deal of time coaching youth baseball and basketball. He impacted the lives of those team members so much, that when they saw him in public, they would call out, “Hey, Coach!” Dave was also a great coach to his children, as he was undoubtedly their biggest supporter. He never missed a sporting event when it came to his children and they could always count on him being there.
Dave was a hard worker and spent 30 years working for Ford Motor Company, with the last 15 years being a Quality Control Inspector. In 2002, he retired from their National Parts Depot in Livonia. He had a great eye for detail. After retirement, Dave really liked the fact that he could spend more time with friends at the AM Vets Local 120 out of Mesick, Michigan, where he was an active member, also serving on the board. He enjoyed lending a hand for their outings and dinners.
Being outdoors was one of Dave’s favorite past times. He could often be found fishing or in the woods hunting. Whether it be socializing with friends around the campfire or sight-seeing with a cold one, while cruising down the two tracks, he loved seeing all that nature had to offer.
